this motor is being used for hoisting or lowering the load and installed in EOT crane.the ratings are 49.3 KW 50 Hz 415 V 960 RPM. basically it is controlled through VFD it has five speed notches it can operate at 5 Hz 12.5 Hz, 25 Hz, 37.5 Hz and 50 Hz i.e at 10%, 25 % 50 % 75 % and 100%. both in Hoisting motion as well as in Lowering motion . it is used for operating up to 100 T load. for operating hoisting motor first we have to release the brake and then only the supply from VFD will let the motor drive to its respective speed. now the problem arises while operating motor in Micro speed i.e at 5 Hz it starts drawing current up to 135 Amp this situation is highly unacceptable but while the motor operates at full speed i.e. at 50 Hz it starts drawing 50A . can anybody suggest me the solution that why there is problem in operating motor at 5hz speed
If the VFD operates properly at the higher frequencies, it must have plenty of torque to start and accelerate through 5 Hz. That suggests that the voltage boost adjustment is set too high if the VFD is operating as a simple volts per hertz or scalar drive. If it is operating as a sensorless vector drive, it may not be properly tuned for the motor. A vector drive should have an automatic tuning routine.
Is this a new installation or has the VFD been operating properly before now and has now started to have a problem? If it has previously operated properly, have you changed any settings, or could someone else have changed settings?
